Viking Airlines soll mit der AOC der Nordic Airlink Charterflüge für andere Fluglinien, Reiseveranstalter usw. durchführen, wobei die MD-80 auch europaweit saisonal stationiert werden. Es wird gemeldet, daß Viking mittlerweile (Herbst 2003) insgesamt fünf MD-83 einsetzt, darunter zwei MD-83, die ehemals bei der MD Airlines im Einsatz standen und über einen längeren Zeitraum in München eingemottet waren.
In der Sommersaison 2003 waren MD-83 u.a. auf griechischen Inseln stationiert.

Mitte Januar 2008 wird gemeldet, dass Sky Wings die MD-83 SE-RDE von der Viking Airlines übernehmen wird und diese die Registration SX-BTF tragen wird. Über die Viking Airlines existieren widersprüchliche Meldungen über mögliche Probleme oder gar eine Flugbetriebseinstellung. Gleichzeitig aktualisierte Viking Airlines aber vor einigen Wochen ihren Internetauftritt.

"From 10 May 2003 we began Operations with the first of 2 x
MD83 aircraft. The 2nd Aircraft came on line on 16 May 2003
Each aircraft is fitted with 161 leather seats with an average seat pitch of 30
to 31 inches in a 5 abreast configuration with a central aisle giving 3 seats to
the left and 2 to the right as you look towards the front of the cabin.
A Meal and bar service is available on all flights. However it should be noted
that whilst the meal is complimentary a small charge will be made for drinks &
snacks purchased from the bar."
